About the Role:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist (Level 4/5) to support Project Hoth. This role involves leveraging data science methodologies to solve complex challenges, develop predictive models, and enhance data-driven decision-making within a high-security environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical models to extract insights from structured and unstructured data.
· Work with large datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity while optimising data pipelines.
· Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions.
· Design, prototype, and implement scalable data science solutions to support operational and strategic objectives.
· Communicate complex data findings and insights through visualisations, reports, and presentations.
· Ensure compliance with security and confidentiality requirements when handling sensitive data.
· Stay up to date with emerging trends and advancements in data science and AI technologies.

Required Skills & Experience:

· Strong experience in data science, machine learning, and statistical modelling.
· Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
· Hands-on experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
· Expertise in working with big data technologies and cloud-based analytics platforms.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a high-security environment.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
· Security Clearance: NV1 or higher (NV2 and PV preferred).

Desirable Skills:

· Defence Experience: Familiarity with Defence systems and environments is highly desirable.
· Experience working within government or defence-related projects.
· Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
· Knowledge of cybersecurity, risk assessment, or defence-related analytics.

Location & Security Requirements:

This role is Canberra-based and requires NV1 clearance or higher, with a strong preference for NV2 or PV clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work.
