Job description
We are looking for a User researchers / Interaction designers for Federal Government. This role plays a key role in driving Australia’s economic agenda by supporting innovation, science, technology, and the resources sector. The Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD) delivers critical digital services, and we’re looking for experienced User Researchers and Interaction Designers to support major projects.
This role is an exciting opportunity to drive human-centric service delivery, ensuring digital services meet customer, business, and technology needs. As part of an agile, multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to public-facing and internal service improvements, working on high-impact digital initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct user research, gathering insights to inform digital service design
- Develop user journeys, personas, wireframes, prototypes, and interactive designs
- Plan and execute usability testing to validate designs and improve experiences
- Apply inclusive and accessible design principles, aligning with WCAG 2.1 AA standards
- Work across research, discovery, and alpha phases of the product lifecycle
What We’re Looking For:
- Dual expertise in User Research & Interaction Design
- Strong understanding of usability, accessibility, and design principles
- Experience working in agile, multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to conduct website analytics and heuristic evaluations
- Passion for creating seamless, user-centered experiences
