Job description
This role is to be the lead IT person to manager a small IT function and the key relationship with the Managed Service Provider. It requires technical, strategy and ability to address the companies board on IT issues.
If you are a self-starter who is able to run and lead a small IT department, make key decisions around IT and manage the ongoing relationship with the MSP, then this could be the role for you. It may suit someone who has shadowed or been 2iC to a CIO, or someone who is a seasoned IT professional happy to take on this role for a company of 80 staff in 8 locations around Australia.
The primary purpose of the Manager IT Services role is to develop and maintain organisationally aligned ICT systems to enable the business to achieve strategic and operational goals and lead the organisation’s ICT capability to maximise returns from ICT investments to improve operational effectiveness. The role works closely with the Executive team and provides fit for purpose IT solutions in a timely and efficient manner, utilising the systems infrastructure and technical support provided by the Managed Services Provider.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
ICT Delivery
Provide leadership, governance and delivery of the ICT strategy and architecture, ensuring fit for purpose.
Manage the provision of secure and stable ICT services to support business outcomes through effective risk management strategies.
Identify and evaluate opportunities for business-led innovation and development to deliver ICT solutions that meet internal and external stakeholder needs.
Create and maintain highly professional, stakeholder oriented, innovative and future-focused ICT capability within the institute
Develop, implement and maintain best practice change, people and financial management strategies and frameworks
Establish and maintain value-based stakeholder and strategic supplier relationships which meet business requirements
Engage and influence decision makers and stakeholders to align ICT investment with business objectives and member needs.
Maintain currency with industry best practice to ensure ICT solutions are fit for purpose.
ICT Project Planning & Delivery
Drive the improvement of user experience with the delivery of redesigned online systems,
As the organisational technical expert, provide recommendations to digital transformation project stakeholders on effective solutions to drive organisational digital transformation.
ICT Administration
Management, Administration, and reconciliation of the IT budget, including CAPEX.
Coordination of the Managed Services Provider and other external providers ensure delivery of service and products are in line with contractual obligations and troubleshooting where areas of concern are identified
Network administrator duties including account management
Management of hardware and software; ordering, registering, issuing and configuration
Ensure a functional disaster recovery plan is implemented and monitored, including but not limited to a backup recovery
Cyber Security
Threat Detection and Response: Monitor systems for potential security breaches and respond to incidents promptly to mitigate risk.
Security Auditing: Perform regular audits of security measures, including software, hardware, and network systems to ensure compliance with policies.
Vulnerability Management: Identify and address vulnerabilities through timely updates, patches, and system upgrades.
Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential threats and suggest preventive strategies.
Data Encryption: Implement encryption standards for data storage and transmission, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information.
Incident Reporting: Develop and maintain incident response protocols, including documentation and reporting of security events.
Security Awareness Training: Educate employees about cybersecurity risks and best practices to prevent phishing and other social engineering attacks.
Access Control: Manage and configure user permissions, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access to sensitive systems and data.
Cloud Security: Oversee the security of cloud-based systems, ensuring data protection across public, private, and hybrid environments.
Security Solutions Evaluation: Assess and recommend new cybersecurity technologies and tools to enhance the organisation's defense mechanisms.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Relevant IT tertiary qualifications
Experience in a senior IT management role
Track record of sustained achievement of strategic goals
Experience in devising and driving large scale organisational change projects and process improvements.
Experienced in developing and implementing strategic and business plans.
Experience managing external service providers.
Demonstrated ability to focus on customer service.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Experience in Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM)
Ability to influence key stakeholders and decision-makers and collaborate effectively
An impeccable knowledge of IT and the general technical landscape
Ability to translate technical jargon into plain English and adapt communication style according to the needs of the audience
Demonstrated experience in effectively delivering digital transformation projects
