EL1 Experience Designer – Digital Experience Project
Location: Canberra | 12-month contract
Our Federal Goverment Client is delivering a major digital uplift project to improve how users interact with our platforms. We are seeking an EL1 Experience Designer to support user research and experience design across key focus areas.
Key responsibilities:

• Lead experience design across five core areas: Search & Discover, Collection Content, External Client Portal, Payments & Commerce, and Workflow Management.
• Document current state user experiences and advocate for users in future designs.
• Facilitate workshops, co-design sessions, and usability testing.
• Conduct user research and translate insights into actionable improvements.
• Develop and maintain design artefacts such as journey maps, personas, and service blueprints.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility, usability, and human-centred design best practices.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver consistent, user-focused solutions.

Essential skills:

• Strong expertise in human-centred design and service design methodologies.
• Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and synthesising findings.
• Ability to develop user personas, journey maps, and service blueprints.
• Skilled in design thinking and co-design facilitation.
• Proven ability to work across complex stakeholder environments and deliver user-led outcomes.
