THE OPPORTUNITY
  
We are seeking an experienced Senior Media Officer to work within a federal government agency, developing and implementing strategic media and communications materials to support their activities, products and strategic narrative.
  
Key skills & experience

• Developing and executing effective media and communication strategies

• Crafting narratives and positive media stories

• Managing multiple priorities while working effectively under pressure in a changing environment

• Building strong relationships with stakeholders

• Generating strategic content for various internal and external channels and stakeholders

• Establishing transparent communication processes

• Analysing, evaluating and reporting media engagement metrics

• Working collaboratively within a small team of specialists

  
Essential criteria

• Degree in Journalism, Media and Communications/Marketing or another relevant field

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within the media sector (media relations, journalism or external communications)

• A detailed understanding of the current media landscape

• Outstanding organisational, interpersonal and communication skills

• An excellent work ethic, with the ability to self-manage and progress tasks independently

This is a contract opportunity for an initial 12-month period, with the potential for further extensions, and can be based in Brisbane, Canberra or Sydney, with great flexible hybrid working options (1-2 days per week in the office).
