Design Partner with Dept. of Health
Company overviewDept of Health and Aged Care, Digital Transformation Design Division |
Recruitment needs/briefOur client sought to fill six key positions to enhance their internal design capabilities, including Service Designers, User Researchers, and Interaction/UX Designers. We were tasked to assemble a complete team that would complement the existing designers within the organisation. Candidates were required to have a deep understanding of working within a large-scale government environment, navigating a complex ecosystem of diverse and interconnected users, participants, and stakeholders. |
Approach/processHaving worked in this market for the past four years, our recruiter began by leveraging his established network. This was followed by utilizing and cross-referencing potential candidates on LinkedIn. A job advertisement was also posted to capture any additional candidates who might be available on the open market. Each candidate was then assessed through structured interview questions to ensure they were technically qualified, culturally aligned, and offered competitive rates. |
ChallengesThe biggest challenge in assembling the team was finding candidates who not only possessed the relevant skills but would also work well together. Since the sourcing was for an entire team, it was crucial that all candidates had similar backgrounds and aligned ways of working. Additionally, this RFP had been sent to other agencies and consultancies, so another challenge was the speed to market and how quickly the right candidates could be identified. A further obstacle was meeting the client’s strict timeline, which required a 3-day turnaround for delivering candidates.

Conclusion/lesson learnedA strong network played a crucial role in efficiently identifying the right candidates. Through referrals and a deep understanding of market availability, we were able to connect with suitable professionals. Additionally, our knowledge of the roles and the client's needs enabled us to match designers to specific projects based on their current capabilities. |
