RECRUITMENT of CIO

Company overview

A leading Australian communications company.

Recruitment needs/brief

A CIO was needed to provide strong leadership, drive innovation, and leverage technology to address key business challenges. The role focused on enabling the organisation to adapt to a faster-paced environment, enhance agility, and utilise technology to streamline operations and boost productivity.

Approach/process

Given the seniority of the role and the need for a comprehensive search, we agreed on a retained approach. Timelines, research, and search activities were clearly defined for a six-week campaign.

  • Weeks 1-2: Advertising, research, and targeted search efforts were conducted to identify potential candidates.

  • Weeks 3-4: We carried out detailed face-to-face interviews, leading to the presentation of a refined shortlist.

  • Weeks 5-6: Client interviews and reference checks were completed, culminating in an offer being presented and accepted by the end of the campaign.

Result/outcome

Through a comprehensive advertising, research, and search campaign, we developed an initial long list of candidates, which was then refined into a shortlist. The shortlist was presented to the client in a face-to-face meeting. As a result, our client had the advantage of choosing between two exceptional candidates for the role.

Conclusion/lesson learned

Transparency and consistent communication were key to providing a successful outcome. Client and candidate expectations were met and as a result we achieved the successful hire of a quality candidate, without unnecessary back-and-forth.

Feedback/testimonial

Years on, the CFO described this hire to be his 'best ever'. He declared the improvements and innovations within the IT department were evident in delivering significant benefits to the company.
